April 16th- 20th Pennies for Patients
April has been recognized as Financial Literacy Month for the last 15 years and is a great time to emphasize financial literacy and make a commitment to building students’ understanding of these skills and concepts all year long. The students in our Pre-K and Pre-K2 classrooms have been introduced to currency all through out the year. What a great opportunity for this concept, to be connected at home as well. Some great books in connection with finance include: Lucky the Golden Goose by John Wrenn, The Greedy Python by Richard Bucklye & Eric Carle, If You Made A Million by David M. Schwartz, Money, Money, Money: The Meaning of the Art and Symbols on United States Paper Currency by Nancy Winslow Parker, The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein.
April 20th Earth Day Ladybug Release wear Read and Black
Earth Day is one of the most popular and widely known events in the world. About 195 countries celebrate and observe Earth Day every year. It was in response to the oil spill in America, that a senator rose to raise the voice for the Earth in which we live and whose resources we consume. The students at Touchstone will be participating in our annual Ladybug release. Students in many of the classrooms will begin planning their class gardens this month. Reach out to your child’s teacher if you would like to participate in any of these activities. Some great books in connection with Earth Day include: The EARTH Book by Todd Parr, The Lorax by Dr. Seuss, Our Big Home by Linda Glaser, Let’s Celebrate Earth Day by Connie and Peter Roop.
