October Newsletter
Dear Touchstone Families,
As we finish our first month of school, I love to walk around and observe all the learning and fun taking place in each classroom. The students and teachers are all working so hard and having a great time. I am looking forward to seeing what each class will be doing next!
During the month of October, we have an exciting event planned! Fall Family Fun Night will be held on Thursday, October 18th from 6:00 p.m. to 6:55 p.m. This is an annual event full of fun for the whole family. Students and family members go from class to class participating in various activities and making different crafts with their friends and teachers. We ask that students do not wear costumes and save them for the Halloween Parade and parties taking place in the school on Wednesday, October 31. The parade will be approximately at 9am. Please send your student with a change of clothes or have clothes under their costumes on that day. We do not want costumes getting accidentally ruined!
As a reminder, please be sure you are signing your child in and out using the iPad in the lobby of the school. You must tap on your child’s photo, not just enter in the PIN! We still have many families not doing this consistently. Also, if you are not enrolled in our extended day program, please do not drop your child off early unless you have notified the office ahead of time. Classes open at 8:45 so we ask you do not arrive before 8:40.
I will be out of town for our learning communities annual Principal’s Conference from October 22 to 26. This is a great opportunity for me to learn new ways to improve our program and to share new ideas with our staff! My assistant Katie will be available for most of your needs. I am still reachable via email during this time however I will only be able to answer emails sporadically through the day. If you have concerns that are not of time constraint please reach out to me or wait until I return. If there is an emergency please contact Katie. Her email is kathryn.deshane@nlcinc.com and cc me at elise.west@nlcinc.com. Glenda will also be gone at this time so please wait to ask billing questions until she returns. You can also email her at Glenda.bay@nlcinc.com.
As always, I am here to help answer any questions you may have or work through any concerns. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me.
Thank you,
Elise West; Principal

From stuffed animals to family pets, children have an innate love for animals. In our classrooms, animal-themed activities are always exciting and engaging for the children. For instance, teachers may transform the dramatic play center into a veterinary office and provide children with stuffed animals, toy doctor props, a pencil,[.....]
