While preschool age is typically 3 years to 5 years old, Touchstone School in Hillsboro offers care for students as young as 6 weeks. We know the importance of childhood development. You will notice our security measures from the moment that you step into our school. We restrict access to our enrolled families, our staff, and registered visitors. All visitors at our school are required to check-in at our front desk, show their ID, and wear a visitor badge during their time in our school. Only authorized adults are allowed to pick up a child in our care.

Yes! We provide two nutritious snacks for our students. These meals give our students the nourishment they need to thrive throughout the school day. We craft our menus to accommodate preferences and dietary restrictions.

No! We know that every child develops at their own pace. This includes potty training. Our teachers help our students at all stages of the potty training journey. It doesn’t end there. We make sure to partner closely with our families to create a collaborative environment. Routines need to carry over from home to school, and from school to home.

Most children are ready to start potty training sometime after 18 months, and many are fully trained by around age 3. However, each child is unique and will master this milestone when they are ready. Learn more in our “When to Start Potty Training” blog.

Always supervise tummy time. Start when your baby is awake and place them on their belly for short sessions (about 3–5 minutes a few times a day) to help strengthen their neck, shoulders, arms, and core muscles. Begin on a playmat or blanket on the floor, use a rolled towel for gentle support, or lay them tummy-down on your chest to encourage head lifting and engagement with you. As they grow, gradually increase the time and add toys or sensory elements. Our Infant program at Touchstone Preschool incorporates daily tummy time to help babies build strength and confidence!

Biting is a common toddler behavior, often linked to teething, frustration, or limited language skills. We make sure that our teachers meet our standards and love working with young children. Our teachers receive training in emergency preparedness, including CPR, first aid, and allergy protocol.
